AMA Group consolidating DCs in Charter Hall Somerton

AMA Group has struck a 19,612 sqm lease deal and will now consolidate its two Victorian parts DCs to Charter Hall Somerton Logistics Estate.

CBRE’s Daniel Eramo and Joe Brzezek brokered the lease deal. The large 880 Cooper Street property formerly housed the Mazda Spare Parts DC, and the space is said to be a “natural fit” for the company.

AMA Group is a leader in the collision repair and associated automotive parts market. It has committed to a seven-year lease at a starting rental of $85 per sqm.

“We are extremely excited about the increased capacity in such a fit-for-purpose facility, which will help ensure increased parts availability to fulfil the needs of our customers nationwide,” Adam O’Sullivan, AMA Group’s Executive General Manger of Supply says.

Charter Hall says it is a “significant commitment” and one which “highlights the strong ongoing demand for existing warehouse space in Melbourne’s north.”

“We are pleased to welcome AMA Group to our Somerton Logistics Centre, a high-profile, versatile warehouse and office facility which boasts an unmatched location and substantial capacity for growth,” Nick Lidonnici, Charter Hall’s Regional Portfolio Manager for Industrial and Logistics says.

The Somerton Logistics Estate comprises nine freestanding buildings. Leading brands such as Saint-Gobain, Technika and Cosentino anchor it.

The estate is located close to major arterials and key infrastructure such as the Hume Highway and is only 17 km north-east of Tullamarine Airport.

“The property’s fit-for-purpose use in a market which is experiencing extremely low vacancy rates was the key drawcard for AMA group,” Daniel says.

“The current vacancy rate in Melbourne’s north is just 1.08 per cent vacancy, and this has begun to drive rental growth as well as a stabilisation in market incentives,” he adds.

Daniel also says AMA Group’s new facility was “strategically located on the corner of Cooper Street and Fillo Drive.” It has multiple roller-shutter doors, high-clearance warehousing, modern offices, and expansive hardstand areas.
