I saw a job listing for a customs entry writer and was thinking of applying for it. It might be a good entry point into logistics beyond what I am doing now (plus it is remote). I am not sure what it entails though.
Last year, I took over my business's logistics department after the current logistics person left. I had no previous logistics experience. I fill out the ISFs for our imported containers. We use a 3PL so I just have to coordinate when it will be delivered and what they will pick up.
For our exported containers, I fill out the AES on the CPB site, fill out the MBOL, commercial invoices, and VGMs that are sent to the 3PL. This can include trying to figure out what HTS code a product should use.
However, we use a broker that makes sure it clears customs and all that. So not sure if that is the experience they are looking for.
