I recently had a very good first round interview to be a Supply Operations Manager/Distribution Warehouse Manager at a large companies distribution warehouse.

I do not have vast logistics experience or warehouse experience. The person who interviewed me said the skills and knowledge can be quickly learned by someone competent and learns quickly, but one of the biggest things they are looking for is someone smart, is a leader, can work well with and manage people so despite my lack of experience in logistics and warehouse operations, they really wanted to see me move forward.

To make it brief and to give some personal reference, I recently came back from a military deployment where I was a key figure in managing, leading and organizing large training events and operations, often while under a foreign armies command. I had to coordinate vehicles, 50 plus Soldiers and all the logistics to support upwards of a dozen US military vehicles, a lot of equipment and 50 plus Soldiers for upwards of three weeks at a time in some pretty arduous terrain and conditions. This part of my resume and explanation is what the interviewer appreciated the most.

So, as stated, what are things I should know about warehouse management and logistics in the civilian world in order to aid me in potential further interviews? I would like to be able to talk with a better understanding of what I may be hired for.
