I'm working in lumber export residing in Canada. As I'm sure you all know, container shipping costs have been going through the roof lately with drastic price changes month to month. Recently I've set up an outfit in Brazil and have mills producing various logs/pallets . One of my biggest customers right now is in India who is taking 40 cans a month. unfortunately, I'm having a huge issue with shipping- not only the costs changing, but having cans constantly moved to different vessels or delayed.
I feel like I'm wasting so much chasing down vessels and changing paperwork does anyone have any experience or advice with streamlining this? its difficult to set up contracts with customers for shipments 2-4 months down the road when shipping costs seem to change drastically every month.
