Which direction do I go?

Thanks for taking the time to read this.

I'm a new owner/operator of a new business in the midwest. The main component we deal with is IT, and IT equipment. I have a pretty solid background there. Now, as an added benefit of helping clients with their IT needs, we sometimes end up needing to perform compliant data destruction on their old IT equipment, which requires packaging and transportation. So now I need to become an expert in logistics, BUT... I don't have much if any logistics/trucking experience. So, I could really use some pointers.

I've filed for my DOT# and got that. I've got insurance. But I don't know what I don't know. What else do I need to do in order to be compliant with all industry rules and regulations? Are there any checklists out there that cover everything that needs to be done when getting started, or in general? Both from a federal and state level (MN here)? Currently, I rent trucks as needed, usually from Penske. But I've heard I need a truck with my company info on it and so forth, as well as other things. Feeling like a fish out of water.

If you know of any good resources for this kind of thing, it would be greatly appreciated!
