First time poster, looking for some advice. I have been working at a large, Midwest-based 3pl for nearly a decade and have been promoted 3 times, most recently to a manager on an analyst team… And I can’t take it anymore. I’ll spare you the full details, but in short, my company is spiraling towards the grave, almost every decent person has jumped ship, I’m sure my department is heading towards mass layoffs, and my boss is a terrible person.
There is some tricky context though. Before a lot of this decline happened, I started a part time MBA in NYC, not exactly a region known for logistics and supply chain jobs. I desperately need out of 3pl. Supply or demand planning, general SC planning/analysis, or transportation mgmt. at a shipper (NOT another carrier) seem like a logical step. And I do genuinely have interest in the SC field as a whole. I’ve applied to about 30 jobs in those areas and have gotten rejected or ignored from all.
So my question is, has anyone made the jump from 3pl to another supply chain function (especially if in the NYC area), and if so, could you give some detail about your path?
