I made an Alibaba purchase & requested DDP shipping but paid without realizing the PI said EXW shipping terms. The products have not been shipped yet & seller doesn’t seem to want to change PI. I am nervous and worry that I’ve been scammed.

I purchased some artificial flowers from Alibaba for a wedding from a verified supplier who has trade assurance. I paid a total of $1,360.10 ($810 for the products & $550 for express fedex shipping)

I initially requested a total price for DDP air and the seller responded with “$550 fedex shipping cost, door to door service” and said it would be $390 by sea to my door. I responded with let’s go with the fedex option of $550. I honestly rushed it and made the purchase. Now, a week later, the shipment has not been sent. I checked the PI today and noticed the shipping terms were EXW. My heart sank. I don’t know how I missed this before I paid. I messaged him and asked if he could change that. He said not to worry, that everything would arrive to my door by fedex and he would ship it out May 6. I told him I just want him to confirm that we agreed to DDP and he responded with “I will put a lower invoice on the boxes, I have been in this business for 5 years and my customers have not paid the customs fees yet”. I said I was confused and asked what he meant and he just said “door to door service, don’t need to pay customs fees”. I feel like he is not being straight forward. He has not responded to my last message of me asking if when he says door to door, he means DDP (delivery duty paid by him). I am wondering if any of you have any advice to give me to put my mind at ease, or let me know what to expect. This is my first order from Alibaba. Will I be getting called for this to clear customs, do I have to send documents? I don’t know what to expect or what to do. Please help!
