Hey there!
As a company that receives laptops and from time to time has to export back faulty batteries to the original supplies for inspection. (No physical harm or defect with batteries)
We just recently got approved to ship dangerous goods that comply with "Lithium-Ion Batteries in compliance with section II of PI967"
Ideally, we would want to send back batteries as is i.e no laptop "body" (each battery packaged individually), but the above implies that "lithium must be in a device" i.e. for this instance a laptop.
Not looking to compromise safety, but there is a standard that’s being set that should be easily passable if we think of an alternate method of packaging that can change the nature of what we’re sending back. Ie: When a battery is enclosed in a laptop, it’s a laptop. What airlines want to avoid is the fire risk of poorly packed and non-compartmentalized batteries (runway reactions if one ignites).
Out of interest, has anyone found a solution for a shipment to satisfy the compliance with section II of PI967 "lithium must be in a device" requirement? (without having to export the batteries back within a laptop)
