I am new to the logistics role. My company has used two 3PL for our regular shipments. But I need to find a carrier to pick up small shipments at the Dallas airport to bring to our facility in Oklahoma. These shipments will never be large than a pallet so I don't need a whole truck. They will need to have pretty quick turn around since I usually find out about air shipments only 3-4 days before they arrive.
I just really have no clue what to look for. Do I just google 3PLs in my area? How do I know they are reliable, is there some kind of database for 3PL reviews or do I just use google reviews.
What are green and red flags when trying to find a 3PL? Do I sign contracts for these kinds (like I do with the two companies that do our regular shipments)?
How do I know what kind of...shipping type to use? I assume for such small shipments it would be a LTL. Do I just let the company suggest the type for me?
